{"id":10821,"date":"2022-05-17T14:42:39","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T04:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipswichjets.com\/?p=10821"},"modified":"2022-11-23T16:05:35","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T06:05:35","slug":"what-ability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipswichjets.com\/what-ability\/","title":{"rendered":"What Ability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; max_width=&#8221;1769px&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2><i>Putting The Ability into Disability<\/i><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/h2>\n<p>May 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0is of course Election Day, an important day for the whole country, but it is also a big day for the Savige Pest Control Ipswich Jets as on the same day it is Disability Awareness Round, with a fantastic sponsor at the helm.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The aim of the day is to create awareness for fans of the Ipswich Jets, and all of those in our community who are living with, or have a family member who is living with a disability.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Joining the Ipswich Jets Family for this day as the naming rights sponsor of the event will be the team from\u00a0<i>What Ability<\/i>, an NDIS registered support service that delivers experiences that are truly \u2018out of this world\u2019 for its clients.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Founded by former Parramatta Eels player Steve Dresler (who is also the Chief Executive Officer), What Ability has relationships with dozens of sports stars who participate in creating fun, unforgettable experiences.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all about putting happiness first,\u201d Steve said. \u201c<i>What Ability<\/i>\u00a0is an organization that is focussed purely on providing fun experiences through our day programs and our overnight camps.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn a daily basis we go to work, delivering experiences for participants out in the community, and this could be anything from swimming, surfing, picnics in the park or kicking the footy around.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it delivers a smile, then that\u2019s what we are looking for.\u201d<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Steve started What Ability after he retired from professional footy, and it was on his down time when he was a player that he might have found his second calling in life.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring my time as a player, I worked on weekends supporting kids with a disability and helping out in my local community,\u201d Steve said. \u201cAfter being forced to retire from league following a spate of injuries in 2019, I decided that I wanted to keep helping these kids full time.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing to terms with my early retirement was tough at times, as I often felt like my passion had been taken away from me, but getting into the industry of helping people has been nothing short of a blessing, and that\u2019s when I started recruiting other athletes.
