Reconciliation Action Plan

Indigenous Reconciliation Plan

The Ipswich Jets, like the City of Ipswich, is rich in the participation of Indigenous Australians as players, coaches and administrators.

Sadly, in today’s world, there still exists a gap between the welfare, education and vocational opportunities open to Indigenous Australians as compared to other Australians.

The Ipswich Jets recognise that, as well as providing game opportunities for Indigenous players, we also have the responsibility of helping the community to close the gap off the field as well.

The Ipswich Jets have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan and formed strategic relationships to contribute to reconciliation in a meaningful way.

We are very proud of our Reconciliation Action Plan and the work that we have done and continue to do as part of the Plan.

A key commitment in the Reconciliation Action Plan is to build our members and fans understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their culture and aspirations. Recognising traditional owners and inviting Aboriginal Elders to give a Welcome to Country ceremony at Ipswich Jets’ activities are appropriate ways in which to show our respect for Australia’s first people. We would encourage others to develop Reconciliation Action Plans for their businesses and organisations and for further information please click here or contact us and we would be happy to provide some guidance.
