Ipswich Jets go red-faced for Sophia

THE Ipswich Jets have got behind a social media campaign that’s a little bit saucy.

The trend is called ‘Sauce Ya Face’ and aims to raise awareness for a rare disorder called Sturge-Weber syndrome.

It asks people to upload a selfie of themselves with sauce smeared on their face and then nominate three others to do the same.

The campaign was launched by Flinders View mum Mandy Lonergan whose 21-month-old daughter, Sophia, was diagnosed with Sturge-Weber. The condition is characterised by a red facial birthmark as well as nervous system problems.

League legends Chris and Ben Walker, who play and coach for the Jets, showed their support by attending a “Sauce Ya Face” event at Bindarra Daycare in Booval.
