Since 2019, the Jets Rugby League Club have been participating in the premier state netball competition.
In the newly rebranded Hart Premier Netball League formerly known as the Sapphire Series, the Jets Netball Club competes against six other top tier teams within Queensland and are a feeder club for the Firebirds Futures and Queensland Firebirds teams. The Sapphire Series is intertwined with the Ruby Series, the Jets Southeast Queensland based team, which allows talented players the ability to showcase their skills and secure positions within the Sapphire Series at any time throughout the season.
In 2024, with the introduction of the GBNL Emerald Competition, a development pathway competition which caters for athletes turning 16 years or older in the year of competition who aspire to compete in Netball QLD’s HART Premier Netball League, the Jets Emerald team was formed. The competition is facilitated by GBNL and open to HART Premier Netball League licence holders only.
In 2019, the Jets Netball Club had a successful year finishing second within the Ruby Series, and third within the Sapphire Series. Over the next couple of years, the Jets teams have performed strongly with the Sapphire team making the grand final in 2023 but just falling short, before bringing home the trophy in a thrilling grand final in 2024 and being crowned Premiers!!
With the success of our players in this competition we have had four athletes selected in the 2025 Firebirds Futures, four players selected in our 2025 State U17 and U19 Teams to compete in the National Netball Championships later this year. Jets also had athletes compete for their country in the Pacific Australia Netball Tournament held in February this year and in some very exciting news, former captain of the Jets, Hulita Veve has recently been announced as Co-Captain of the Firebirds for 2025.
The Jets catchment consists of a large region with local associations – Toowoomba, Ipswich, Goodna and Western Districts incorporating players from Stanthorpe, Roma, Kingaroy, Toowoomba and Ipswich, through to the outskirts of Brisbane to Graceville. The Jets hold one of the larger sapphire regions.
The Jets also run various programs throughout the year at our local associations which incorporates our youngest netballers to our future jets players who aspire to one day play at the top level. These programs span 4 to 5 weeks and give aspiring junior netballers weekly interactions with highly qualified coaches, umpires and support staff. The Jets staff work on both on and off court behaviours, like healthy eating, pre and post training habits, wellness and nutrition to prepare future stars for their netball careers.
The Jets Rugby League Club is the first sporting club to have two state based teams playing under the same umbrella. This is amazing achievement and one the Jets are proud off.
