The Savige Pest Control Ipswich Jets are delighted to announce a new and exciting initiative for their young Mal Meninga Cup players in partnership with local business and Ipswich Jets sponsor, Ipswich Pro Drive Driving School.
This program will give these young learner drivers the ability to gain valuable experience and driving hours to help attain their provisional licences, at no cost to them. The program will be overseen by the Ipswich Jets Wellbeing and Education Officer Josh Chandler.
Ipswich Pro Drive Driving School has given the Jets access to two Jets branded cars free of charge, to help those players get their required driving hours with trained volunteers from the community. Learning to drive with an accredited trainer, triples their logbook hours. These volunteers will be there to provide the best support and encouragement to assist these young Jets on their journey to secure their P Plates, as well as serve as a mentor for these young men.
Ipswich Jets CEO Richard Hughes said, “Driving a car is a great responsibility, and with the correct training, support and encouragement, only makes for a great driver on our roads. The Club is thrilled to have this opportunity available to our youngest Jets. This fits in perfectly with our ethos of the person before the player”.
The Ipswich Jets is looking for volunteers to help with this program. Those interested must hold a current driver’s licence for the last 12 months, have a current or be willing to obtain a Blue card and be available for an hour or more a week.
