THANKS to their success on the field, the Ipswich Jets are now kicking all the rights goals off the field as well.
The Ipswich rugby league club received nation-wide exposure due to their incredible success last year, which saw them crowed State Champions and winners of the Queendlans Intrust Super Cup.
Now that winning image is attracting attention from sponsors looking to cement their relationship with the city of Ipswich.
This week the club announced a new partnership with Johnny Bigg, a one-stop-shop for big and tall men’s clothing.
Originally launched as an online store, Johnny Bigg chose Riverlink Ipswich as the location for their first store in Queensland.
This is the first time the clothing company has partnered with a sporting team anywhere in Australia.
Johnny Bigg general manager Julian Hayman said it was a ‘perfect partnership’ with an integral part of the Ipswich local community.
“Ipswich is an important market for us,” Mr Hayman said.
“It was our third store to launch in Australia and we’re thrilled with the response the brand has had.
“It’s great to be even more connected with the local community thanks to this new partnership.”
With a product range tailored for big and tall men’s clothing, Johnny Bigg has identified the bulky frame of rugby league players as the ideal face for their advertising.
Mr Hayman believed the Ipswich players would feel right at home next to their other brand sponsors.
“We’re proud to welcome Ipswich Jets to the Johnny Bigg family and to be dressing some of the players off-field this season,” he said.
“The Jets players are in good company, as this week we welcomed NRL legend George Rose as a new friend of the brand.
“We have also worked with rugby (league) greats Manu Vatuvei, Sam Kasiano, Frank Pritchard, Jamal Idris and Marty Kapow to name just a few.”
