Jets hit back in hunt for title success

THE Ipswich Jets answered critics of their recent hot and cold form to remain strong contenders for Queensland Cup glory this year.

The fourth placed Jets overcame third placed Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Wynnum 16-12 yesterday to move alongside them on the ladder.

But it was the manner of their victory, rather than the final scoreboard, which told the tale.

The Jets were without captain Keiron Lander and suspended second rower Sam Martin.

They were also up against arguably the form team in the competition in Wynnum Manly and trailed 8-0 at half-time.

“It was a very impressive, gutsy win,” Jets co-coach Ben Walker said.

“They’re always hard to beat down there and when they get in front they’re generally pretty hard to run down.”
