THE Ipswich Jets have sealed third spot on the Queensland Cup ladder with a 34-16 win over Sunshine Coast.
The Jets needed to record a comprehensive win at North Ipswich on Saturday to ensure they finished ahead of fourth placed Wynnum Manly.
It means an easier route thorough finals (theoretically), with a home final on Sunday against sixth placed Northern Pride.
If they get through that they will have another home final the following week, against the winner of Saturday’s elimination clash between Wynnum Manly and Easts.
“We’re looking pretty good coming into finals,” Jets winger Brandon McGrady said after the game.
“It’s important we keep doing what we’re doing and don’t change anything.”
Among those watching on as part of Jets Old Boys day was the club’s all-time leading point scorer Steven West.
The night before West had been named the Ipswich Rugby League’s Player-of-the-Year for his stellar season with Northern Suburbs.
Meanwhile, the Jets Reserve grade side finished the Brisbane Rugby League regular season in second spot, following a 40-30 loss to third placed Easts.
The Jets Reserves will play Wynnum Manly at Wynnum in a semi-final on Saturday.
